The owner purchased this home on the edge of the Bay wetlands because of her love of kayaking. However, the crawlspace could also become a wetland during extreme tides. We installed sump pumps into the crawl space and then completely sealed the floor and stem walls with a thick membrane to make the crawlspace clean and dry.
A previous remodel had removed interior walls to open the space, but left 8’ ceilings with poor lighting, creating a heavy, claustrophobic feeling. It had a dated kitchen with windows looking into the neighbor’s yard. We lifted the ceiling while incorporating LED lighting. Walnut plank floors were added for contrast. A new kitchen was designed to accommodate frequent family gatherings.
